Cross Country brings home the medals

The Licking Wildcat Cross Country team traveled to compete in West Plains on Tuesday, September 16. The team did well at the meet, with five runners bringing home medals.

Olivia Clayton finished 15th in the Girls’ Varsity race, with a time of 37.42; Ethan Stout finished 16th in the Boys’ Varsity race, with a time of 22:14; Dawsynn Moore was 17th in Boys’ Varsity with a time of 22:18; Kierum O’Daniel placed 19th in Boys’ Varsity with a time of 23:58; and Paislee Kinder was 12th in Junior High Girls with a time of 14:17. Ray Clayton also competed and finished in 41st place in Junior High Boys with a time of 17:11.

Two days later, the running ’Cats could be found on the road to Steelville. Several personal records were set at the meet, and Tyrone Merdian medaled with a 14th place finish.

Results were as follows: Varsity Boys’ Race: Tyrone Merdian, 14th place, 19:36; Ethan Stout, 25th place, 21:32; and Dawsynn Moore, 38th place, 22:36. Varsity Girls’ Race: Olivia Clayton, 56th place, 36:00; and Karissa Malikowski-Whitten, 57th place, 36:14. Junior High Boys’ Race: Ray Clayton, 153rd place, 16:43; and Brycen Baker, 165th place, 18:39. Junior High Girls’ Race: Paislee Kinder, 54th Place, 14:35.

The runners finished out the week with a Saturday meet in Stoutland. Tyrone Merdian finished the Varsity Boys’ Race in third place, with a time of 20:13; Dawsynn Moore was seventh at 21:30. Olivia Clayton finished 14th for the Varsity Girls, with a time of 30:58, and Karissa Malikowski-Whitten wasn’t far behind in 16th place, at 36:03.
