Wildcat Baseball is rolling along

The Licking Wildcats Baseball team began their season at Ozark with a double header on Friday, August 29. They earned a split, losing to Silo, Okla., 0-6 and defeating Southwest Washburn in five innings, 14-0. The following day, Licking defeated Purdy in an extra-inning game, 7-6. The JV opened their season that day as well, falling to Silo, Okla.
The home opener was held on Tuesday, September 2, against Hartville. The Licking Wildcats came out on top, 10-4. The JV ’Cats also scored a W against the Hartville Eagles.
Next up for the Wildcats was a road game in rainy Conway. Licking added to their wins with a 5-3 score.
On Monday, September 8, the Wildcats record fell to 4-2 when the Purdy Eagles avenged their earlier loss, defeating Licking 14-4. The JV Wildcats came out on top with a big fifth inning to win 6-2.
Licking is the top seed in the Frisco League Conference Tournament this week and earned a first round bye. They are slated to play in the semifinal round on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Championship game and third place game will be held on Friday.
