Lady ’Cats finish week 2-1

ST. JAMES 49, LICKING 44
LICKING, Mo. – The Licking Lady Wildcats had a rematch with the Class 4, state-ranked St. James Lady Tigers last Monday night at the Sherman Hill Fieldhouse. Licking had faced St. James 10 days prior and caught a beating, 51-25. This game would follow a different script.
The Lady ’Cats stepped up their toughness and executed their press break to perfection to take a slight lead into halftime. Licking kept their lead until around the three minute mark of the fourth quarter, as back-to-back 3s put St. James in the lead. Licking was unable to get any offense going in the fourth, finishing 1/10 from the field in the quarter. St. James made some free throws down the stretch and escaped with a 49-44 win.

Hadlee Davis scored 13 points and snagged 10 boards to record her first career double-double. Allie Hock chipped in 13 points. Linzie Wallace scored 5 points to go with 8 boards and 4 assists. Keely Gorman added 5 points, Zoey Dawson 3 points and 3 assists, Kinley Keaton 2 points and 5 boards, and Morgan Stone 2 points.
LICKING 66, LAQUEY 40
LAQUEY, Mo. – On Tuesday Licking made the trip to the Laquey Physical Education building to face off with the upstart Lady Hornets.
Licking used full court man pressure to jump out to an early lead. Turnovers plagued the Lady Hornets as Licking extended the lead over every quarter. Licking eventually won 66 to 40 and notched another conference win into their belt.
Hock led the way scoring 24 points on 11/15 shooting. Keaton added 10 points, making three 3s. Davis scored 7 points and 4 steals, 4 assists; Dawson 6 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists; Wallace 6 points, 5 assists, 4 steals; Gorman 5 points; Stone 4 points and Kylee Rinne 3 points.
LICKING 52, STOUTLAND 40
STOUTLAND, Mo. – Licking made the long trip to Stoutland Thursday to face the underrated and always scrappy Lady Tigers.
Stoutland jumped out to an early five point lead but Licking closed the quarter strong to take back the lead for good. Licking used ball control to frustrate the Lady Tigers into making defensive mistakes. Licking made 8/11 shots in the first quarter. The Lady Wildcats put the ball in the freezer after getting up 13 and ran the clock out on Stoutland. Licking won 52-40.
Davis led in scoring with 22 points. Wallace scored 12 points on 6/8 shooting to go with 6 rebounds. Hock added 8 points; Keaton 4 points; Stone 4 points, 7 rebounds; and Dawson 2 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists.
