MOUNTAIN GROVE 76, LICKING 73
LICKING, Mo. – The Wildcat varsity squad played a tough game Tuesday against Mountain Grove at the Sherman Hill Fieldhouse. It was a back-and-forth game. Carter Sullins tied the game with two made free throws, but Mtn. Grove threw up a deep 3 at the horn and banked it in for the win; 76-73 was the final.
The team was led by Roston Stockard’s 20 points; Jordan Ritz added 10 points and 10 rebounds, Benton Corley added 11 points, and Carter Sullins led the team with seven assists on the night.
The JV took a rough loss 35-54. They played hard and were led by Logan Buckner’s 12 points and Jason Ingram had 10.
POCAHONTAS 34, LICKING 25
WEST PLAINS, Mo. – On Wednesday, the JV travelled to West Plains to play Pocahontas in a JV shootout. It was a low scoring game as both teams were playing hard, making scoring difficult. But a big fourth quarter from Pocahontas was a little too much for the young Wildcats and they fell 25-34. Conway Adey led the team with 14 points.
LICKING 78, IBERIA 54
IBERIA, Mo. – Friday the Wildcats travelled to Frisco League opponent Iberia. In the varsity game the Wildcats took off in a hurry, scoring 24 points in the first quarter and setting the defensive intensity by forcing Iberia into several early turnovers. Iberia mounted a small comeback in the third quarter but never got closer than 15 points in the second half. The Wildcats extended their lead to 27 at one point during the fourth quarter; in the end the final score was 78-54.
During the third quarter Roston Stockard scored his 1000th point. Jordan Ritz led the team with 20 points and 8 rebounds, Roston Stockard had 13, Benton Corley 13, Kannon Buckner 12, and Carter Sullins 10 points and 9 assists.
The JV started the night off with a thrilling double overtime game, winning 48-46. The young ’Cats entered the fourth quarter down ten and fought back with great team defense, holding Iberia to four points. In the overtimes, Parker Huff knocked down seven huge free throws to help seal the win.
Jason Ingram led the team with 13 points, Conway Adey added 9 and Trent Wood had 8.
MAMMOTH SPRINGS 46, LICKING 40
ROLLA 48, LICKING 36
WEST PLAINS, Mo. – The JV traveled back to West Plains on Saturday to finish their long week with two more games. First was against Mammoth Springs, Ark. It was a low scoring first half and Licking went into the half down 12, but a big third and fourth quarter got us back to within four with a minute to go. But the Wildcats just ran out of time. The final was 40-46.
They showed toughness and played hard getting back into the game. Logan Buckner and Conway Adey both had 12 points to lead the team.
In the second game we faced Rolla. This was a tough, physical game. I am really proud of the team for how hard they worked and the energy they put into the game. We took a five point lead into half time, but Rolla had a huge third quarter and took a 34-28 lead at the end of that quarter. Rolla was able to extend their lead towards the end of the fourth, with a final score of 36-48.
Conway Adey led the team with 15 points, Jason Ingram had 8 and Jett Sullins had 6.
“The team never quit playing hard and I am proud of them.” ~ Coach Chris Harris
