Wildcats end regular season 21-3

The Licking Wildcats closed out the regular season last Thursday with a 2-0 win at Mountain Grove.

Rusty Buckner was dominant on the mound for Licking. The senior tossed a complete game shutout in which he allowed four hits and struck out 10.

Buckner also jump started the offense with a solo home run in the fourth inning. Licking plated an insurance run in the seventh when Garrett Gorman doubled to left to score Keyton Cook, who had led off with a single.

Karson Walker enjoyed a 2-for-3 day for the winners. Licking improved to 21-3 with the victory.

Licking is the top seed in this week’s Class 3 District 9 Tournament at Steelville. The Wildcats are scheduled to play Steelville on Tuesday in the semifinal round with the finals set for Thursday.
