Lady ’Cats win District Track & Field meet

The Licking High School Track & Field team traveled to Cuba Saturday for their District meet. The Lady ’Cats team won the meet with 123 points after 19 events. Thirteen LHS athletes in 16 events will be advancing to Sectionals on Saturday, May 11, at Blue Eye.

District meet results that were qualifiers included two personal records (PR) and one school record.

For the boys’ team, sectional qualifiers include the 4x100m relay team of Ethan Stout, Tyrone Fallert, Austin James and Derek Mendenhall, who ran a PR of 47.66 and finished second.

The 4x200m relay team of Ethan Stout, Dominick Donley, Austin James and Derek Mendenhall ran a PR of 1:39.18 and finished third.

Ethan Stout finished second in the Pole Vault, at 2.59m.

Gio Chalmers won the Discus, throwing 34.53m.

For the girls’ team, sectional qualifiers include Sadie Hutsell, who won the pole vault at 2.13m.

The 4x100m relay team of Kylee Rinne, Keely Gorman, Hannah Medlock and Finley Sullins also won their event, with a time of 53.20 sec.

Jadyn Barnes won the Javelin, with a throw of 38.86m; and was fourth in Shot Put, at 8.80m.

Finley Sullins set a school record and finished first in the 100m, at 12.94 sec, and first in the Long Jump, at 4.96m. She also took second in the 200m, with a time of 27.04 sec.

Hannah Medlock won the Triple Jump, at 9.67m; she took third in High Jump at 1.40m (only 0.5m separated the top three finishers).

The 4x200m relay team of Sadie Hutsell, Kylee Rinne, Keely Gorman and Hannah Medlock finished third, with a time of 1:58.54.

Keely Gorman took second in Long Jump, at 4.66m, behind Sullins. Gorman took fourth in the 100m at 13.64 sec.

Morgan Stone was third in Discus, with a throw of 25.90m, followed by Ava Walker in fourth at 23.77m.

Kylee Rinne advanced in the 100m Hurdles, finishing fourth with a time of 19.71 sec.
