Two wins for Wildcat Baseball before rain sets in

LICKING, Mo. – Weather was the big winner last week as the Licking Wildcats played on Monday and Tuesday before rain washed out games at the end of the week. The Wildcats registered wins over Hartville and Mountain View Liberty and raised their record to 18-3. Below are the recaps:

LICKING 11, HARTVILLE 0

HARTVILLE, Mo. – The Licking Wildcats scored in just two innings on Monday night at Hartville, but they shut out the Eagles 11-0.

Licking posted three runs in the first and eight more in the fourth en route to the run rule victory. Kellar Davis enjoyed the run support and went the distance for the win.

Davis fanned eight over five innings, walked one, and allowed two hits. Licking improved to 17-3 with the victory.

Rusty Buckner paced the offense with a 2-for-3 night that included a home run and three RBIs. Keyton Cook also homered and drove in a pair while Davis, Silas Antle, and Kale Cook all recorded two-hit games.

Licking won the JV game 10-4. Kannon Buckner homered and doubled twice while driving in four runs for the winners; Nate Gambill stroked a two-run double, and Gavin Buckner recorded a multi-hit game.

Isaac Rinne picked up the victory on the mound with relief help from Kale Cook and Jordan Ritz.

LICKING 14, MV LIBERTY 0

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Mo. — The Licking Wildcats blanked the Mountain View Liberty Eagles 14-0 on Tuesday night in Mountain View.

Rusty Buckner was dominant on the mound for Licking in picking up the win. In five innings the senior allowed no runs on no hits and struck out nine.

Kannon Buckner sparked the offense for Licking with a 2-for-2 night with four RBIs that included a three-run home run. Logan Gorman chipped in with a pair of hits and two RBIs, and Keyton Cook collected two hits and drove in two runs.

The Wildcats racked up 12 hits in the game and scored in four of the five innings. Licking raised its record to 18-3 on the season with the win.

The JV Wildcats improved to 9-1 on the spring with their 6-0 victory over Mountain View-Liberty. Karson Walker went the distance on the mound for the win.

Isaac Rinne went 2-for-2 at the plate and drove in a run for Licking. Jasper McCloy scored twice and Kannon Buckner had a pair of hits and two runs-batted-in.
