Rodeo fun continues around Licking

Late summer rodeo action could be found in two locations around Licking last weekend. The Central Family Rodeo Association (CFRA) held a two-day rodeo at the Edgar Springs Saddle Club arena Friday and Saturday, September 11 and 12. The Roby Saddle Club Rodeo was held Saturday, September 12.

More rodeo fun will be found on Saturday, September 26. The Edgar Springs Saddle Club is hosting a Cowboy Challenge, with a 50% pay back. Cowboys and cowgirls will attempt to ride their horses through 14 obstacles during a seven-minute time period, and will be scored on their execution of each task and the time required. Contestants will be divided into three classes: Youth riders 12 and under, teen riders ages 13-17, and adult riders 18 and over. Those interested in participating may sign up in person at 9 a.m. or may pre-register online on the saddle club’s Facebook page. Walk thru is allowed at 10 a.m. and the youth class begins at 10:30 a.m. For those who have not witnessed a contest like this, the riders are competing with the willpower of their horses as much or more than they are with other competitors.

The same day, the Roby Saddle Club is hosting a members only Buckle Fun Show, beginning at 1 p.m.

It was recently announced that the Ranch Rodeo previously scheduled to take place at the Licking Rodeo Grounds on Saturday, October 10, has been cancelled.
