Obituary -Greg “Goose” Berry

Greg “Goose” Berry, 62, of Higginsville, died on January 8, 2026, at his home.
He was born October 31, 1963, in Independence, to Henry and Alice (Schroer) Berry.
Goose graduated from Lafayette C-1 High School in 1982 where he was an athletic stand-out. He is recognized in the school Hall of Fame, along with the 1982 basketball team on which he played. He received a full scholarship to play tight end for the Arkansas Razorbacks, but a broken leg in his second year ended his career. In high school he worked at Bruening Nursery and later at other landscaping companies.
He married Leanna Marth on March 9, 1986, at Salem United Church of Christ. They enjoyed hosting parties, bbq-ing and being with friends. With his eye and talent for landscaping, they created a beautiful space at their home. She preceded him in death on July 28, 2016.
Goose went to work at UPS in 1992. He worked his way up to a delivery route in the Warrensburg area. In his 33 years there (retiring in August of 2025), he made friends with countless people on his route. He loved seeing them every day. He received recognition for 25 years of safe driving.
Goose was a selfless guy who could light up a room and never met a stranger. In addition to spending time with his grandkids or friends, some of his favorite things were following sports, listening to Rock and Roll, going to deer camp with family and working in his yard.
