Wildcats denied third in conference tournament

The Cats faced off against the Dixon Bulldogs in the second round of the Frisco League Tournament on Thursday, and fell by a score of 51-69.
The game was close going into the fourth quarter but the Wildcats were unable to make enough shots to keep it within reach. Karson Walker led the team with 18 points, and Jason Ingram added 15 points and had three steals.
“They played extremely hard,” said Coach Harris. “The third quarter run we went on to close the scoring gap to six was impressive.”
On Saturday the Cats faced the Iberia Rangers in the third place game. The Wildcats again fell short, this time by a score of 34-45, and finished the tournament in fourth place.
Karson Walker led the team with 18 points, and Logan Buckner crashed the boards hard, pulling down eight rebounds.
“They competed until the last second,” said Coach Harris, “but we struggled to make shots. Our defense forced 20 turnovers but was only able to score eight points off of them.”
The Wildcats traveled to Cuba Monday for their next game. Thursday they will return to their home court for a varsity conference game against Stoutland, which will take place after the varsity Lady Wildcats game against Stoutland at 6 p.m.
