Lady Wildcats finish 1-2 in Frisco Tourney

The Licking Lady Wildcats ran into the Newburg Lady Wolves on Friday, December 5, in the consolation side of the Frisco League Tournament.
Licking took the lead early and never looked back. The Lady ’Cats’ half court zone pressure forced multiple turnovers and Licking raced to a 20-point halftime lead. Licking went into cruise control in the second half and the turbo clock was in play. All 15 girls played for Licking, and the Lady ’Cats won 50-19.
Scoring for Licking were Keely Gorman with 15, Penelope Huff with 10, Morgan Stone had 7, Hadlee Davis and Addison Floyd both connected for 6, Bailie Medlock scored 3, Kylee Rinne had 2, and Jayde Thompson added 1.
In the consolation final on Saturday, Licking played a salty Richland group. Richland is led by All State Guard Mallory Moss.
Licking and Richland traded the lead back and forth until the very end of the second quarter, when Moss scored eight straight points to give Richland a seven-point lead at halftime. Licking switched to a triangle-and-2 in the third quarter and several Richland role players made huge shots as the Lady ’Cats tried to come back. The comeback was thwarted and Richland ran the clock in the fourth to take a 48-36 victory.
Gorman and Davis each scored 11 points in the game, Rinne hit for 5, Stone and Floyd each added 3, Huff put in 2 and Medlock had 1.
