Wildcats advance in Frisco League Tournament

The Licking Wildcat Basketball team traveled to Laquey Saturday for the first round of the 2025 Frisco League Boys Basketball Tournament. Fifth seed Licking took on fourth seed Laquey.

The Wildcats took the lead early and never looked back, beating the hometown Hornets 69-50.

“We controlled the rebounding game, which gave us multiple opportunities to push in transition and second chance points on the offensive side (13 points),” said Coach Chris Harris. “We were able to force several turnovers on defense, which led to 19 points.” Karson Walker led the team with 25 points and 7 assists, Logan Buckner added 15 points, Conway Adey had 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Jason Ingram added 8 points and 8 rebounds.

“I am really happy with how we played; we still have areas where we will continue to get better,” added Coach Harris.

The Wildcats will play Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. against the winner of Tuesday’s Dixon/Richland matchup.

The Wildcats opened their season on Tuesday, November 25, at the Big Cat Classic. This year’s Licking versus Salem contest was held in Licking.

In a tough, physical game, the Wildcats came up short to the Tigers, 45-53.

Karson Walker led the team with 17 points and Jason Ingram added 14 points.

“We played extremely hard, and I am proud of how we played,” said Coach Harris.
