ALL YOU CAN EAT BREAKFAST
An all-you-can-eat fundraising breakfast will be held from 7-10 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, at the Licking Senior Center.
FIRE DEPARTMENT OPEN HOUSE
The Licking Rural and City Fire departments will host an Open House on Saturday, September 13. The public is welcome to attend. Speak to firefighters, see the latest equipment, pay your rural dues, and watch a demonstration of vehicle extrication tools as they take a car apart. It runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the vehicle extrication demo at 11:30 a.m.
NSDAR AUGUST MEETING
Noah Coleman Chapter, NSDAR, is scheduled to meet at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, September 13, at Colton’s in Rolla. Jerry McClain will provide the program, “Ambush Near Dak To.”
FLOYD FAMILY REUNION
Friends – family – descendants of Charlie and Lura Floyd are invited to attend a family reunion on Sept. 14th, 2025, at Montauk State Park in the new shelter house. Meat, drinks and paper products provided – bring your favorite dishes to share with everyone. Lunch will start by 1 p.m. Everyone welcome!
STORM SIREN TESTING
Testing of the Licking storm sirens is scheduled to take place at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 1.
CASA CARNIVAL
A CASA Carnival will be held on Friday, September 19, from 5-7 p.m., at Pete’s at Ledgeland Acres Farm, 18385 US-63, Rolla. This free event features food, games and music.
LICKING FALL FESTIVAL
Licking Downtown Inc. will host the Licking Fall Festival on Saturday, September 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the historic Licking Mill. Vendor spaces are available as well as booths in our business showcase. Listen to live music by Michael O’Connor at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., enter your quilt in the quilt turning or join the hog calling contest, enjoy mill tours and storytelling, and meet your first responders. CAR SEAT SAFETY CHECK
A car seat safety check will be held at the Licking Fall Festival at the Licking Mill on Saturday, September 20, from 9 to 11 a.m. This event is sponsored by the Texas County Health Department and will be held in conjunction with the Licking Police Department.
LICKING TRUCK & TRACTOR PULL
R&S Track will host a Truck & Tractor Pull at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening, September 20.
YOUNG COMMUNITY CTR GUN RAFFLE
The Young Community Center (Historic Anutt School) in Anutt is having a dinner and gun raffle drawing on Saturday, September 20, with the meal from 5-7 p.m. and the drawing at 6:45 p.m. Proceeds will assist with maintenance of the historic building and support of community projects. Boone Creek Baptist Church will host their 171st Annual Homecoming on Sunday, September 21. Roy Bond and Kirby Clark will perform at 10:30 a.m. The message will be presented by Pastor Phillip McGuire. All are welcome to attend.
TEXAS CO LIBRARY HOUSTON TO CLOSE FOR MOVING
The Houston branch of the Texas County Library will be closed beginning Monday, September 22, through Friday, October 3, while they are moving to their new building.
GUN AND QUILT RAFFLE

AOG LEGACY SERVICE
The Licking Assembly of God invites all to attend their weekly Legacy Service, held from 1 – 2 p.m. every Wednesday. This non-denominational service was begun to provide an option for those who wish to attend a mid-week service held during daylight hours.

MONTHLY MOTORCYCLE CRUISE-IN
The MC Cruise-In at Sonic in Licking, with DJs “Lew & Rick” of “The Road Show DJ service” is back. The motorcycles will be rolling in, we have lots & lots of door prizes & most of all friendly people! T-shirts are available for purchase. The final Cruise-In of the season will be September 25, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Junction of Hwy. 63 & 32. The rain date is the following Thursday. Hope to see you there!
