LICKING 42, IBERIA 54
LAQUEY, Mo. – Licking played the fourth seeded Lady Rangers of Iberia in the semi-final round. Iberia defeated Stoutland in overtime in their first round game.
This game was another long possession, slow-down type affair. Both teams struggled to get going in the first half. Licking scored late to hold a small, 16-15 lead at halftime. The tempo sped up a little in the third as Iberia tied it at 30 heading into the final quarter of play. Iberia scored on their first four possessions of the quarter and Licking missed seven straight free throws to fall behind 38-30. Licking tried to pressure the Lady Rangers but to no avail. Iberia dominated the fourth quarter, pulling away to win 54-42. Licking fell to the third place game for the first time in nine seasons.
Allie Hock had 13 points, Zoey Dawson 10 points, Hadlee Davis 7, Kinley Keaton 5, Linzie Wallace 5 and Keely Gorman 2.
LICKING 49, RICHLAND 31
LAQUEY, Mo. – Licking faced the second seeded Richland Lady Bears in the third place game on Saturday. Licking switched up their defensive scheme in an attempt to limit the Lady Bears’ best three players. The plan worked as the Lady ’Cats were able to win convincingly down the stretch 49-31. Licking led by 2 at halftime but used patience and solid D to pull away to earn the trophy.
Allie Hock led the way again, scoring 15, Linzie Wallace had 13, Hadlee Davis 10, Kinley Keaton 5, Addison Floyd 4 and Zoey Dawson 2.
“We had our ups and downs during this tourney but we saved our best performance for Saturday. We are still figuring things out and trying to see what will work best moving forward.” ~ Coach Rissler
