Lady ’Cats volleyball ends regular season

The Licking Lady Wildcats volleyball team ended their regular season with a home match against Mountain View/Liberty, two days after traveling to Mountain View for a tournament.

Licking Varsity fought through five sets against Liberty on Monday, October 21, but came away with a loss, 21-25, 25-20, 25-18, 18-25 and 15-10.

Aubrey Gorman returned and had 27 digs, Zoey Dawson, Linzie Wallace and Jadyn Barnes each had 13, and Hadlee Davis 10. Wallace gave 33 assists on the evening. Dawson and Allie Hock each had an ace. Barnes led kills with 12, Hock added nine, and Dawson and Ralee Clayton had eight apiece.

Both the Junior Varsity and the C Team each came away with wins. JV outscored Liberty 25-22 and 25-18; the C Team score was 25-22.

Licking had tough competition in the Mtn. View tournament on the previous Saturday, and lost to Thayer, West Plains and Willow Springs. Summersville fell to Licking.

Licking was the number one seed in the Class 2 District 8 tournament, and earned a first round bye. They faced Steelville Friday evening in the semifinal round, and dominated the court to win in three, 25-14, 25-13, 25-11.

The District Championship game against Belle was scheduled for Tuesday, October 29, at 5 p.m. at Dixon.
