STORM SIREN TESTING

Testing of the Licking storm sirens is scheduled to take place at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 19.

THE GRAY LADIES RIDE AGAIN

The Gray Ladies Ride Again will be at the Historic Star Theater in Willow Springs on Saturday and Sunday, September 21 & 22. Saturday shows are at 2 and 7 p.m., Sunday shows at 3 p.m.

MO TROUT FISHERMAN’S ASSOC. TOURNAMENT

The Missouri Trout Fisherman’s Association is hosting a tournament September 21 and 22, open to all visitors, at Montauk State Park. Register Friday between 6:30 and 8:15 p.m., or Saturday between 6:30 and 8 a.m. Prizes are awarded Sunday at noon.

FALL FESTIVAL AT THE MILL

Licking Downtown’s annual Fall Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the historic Licking Mill. Craft and food vendors, games, music, and many other booths will be at this year’s event. Mo. Dept. of Conservation, Licking Police Department, Licking Fire Department, TCMH EMS, TCMH Licking Family Clinic, Licking Residential Care, Hickory Manor, and the Texas County Health Dept. will be there.

NSDAR NOAH COLEMAN CHAPTER MEETING

The Noah Coleman Chapter, NSDAR, is scheduled to meet at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, September 21, at Sybill’s in St. James. The program “Fort McHenry and the Star-Spangled Banner” will be presented by Pat Hale.

GOSPEL SINGING

Sharry Lovan and Stringed Union, a Bluegrass Gospel group, will be in concert at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, September 22, at Maness Memorial Church, 1218 Blair Street, Cabool. Everyone is welcome.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS FISH FRY

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, West Hwy. 32, Licking, will have a Fish Fry from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 27. Carryout is available – call 573-674-4010.

LRC SILENT AUCTION

Licking Residential Care will be running a silent auction throughout the month of September. Funds raised go toward the Resident Christmas fund.

SHANNON CO. MUSEUM PROGRAM

The annual archaeology/history program at the Shannon County Museum will begin at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 30, at the museum on Main Street, Eminence. Jack H. Ray will present “Recent Archaeological Investigations in Shannon County: The Alley Mill Site and Cave Spring Dugout Canoe.” The public is invited to the free program.

2ND ANNUAL RIDE FOR A REASON

The second annual Ride for a Reason will be held on Saturday, October 5. Participants will meet at Crow Creek Bar & Grill to line up at noon, departure time is 1 p.m. All proceeds go to G-Ma Pam’s Rack Pack.

TEXAS COUNTY MUSEUM OF ART & HISTORY OPEN

The Texas County Museum of Art & History is open on Monday and Tuesday for the season.

GUN AND QUILT RAFFLE

The Fleet Reserve Association FRA Branch 364 is holding a Gun, Quilt and Large Ceramic Planter Raffle. The raffles are in support of college scholarships. For more information call David Herndon at 417-967-0661.

RECOVERY UNDERGROUND

Recovery Underground, a local support group, meets at 6 p.m. on Mondays, a Bible study at 6 p.m. on Thursdays, and Church at 6 p.m. on Saturdays, each week at 108 Main Street in Licking. For more information call Jake Carver at 573-889-7785.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 7:30 p.m. every Tuesday at the Licking United Methodist Church.

FREE ADDICTION RECOVERY CLASS

A program to help you overcome any form of addiction, based on the doctrine of Jesus Christ. If you or a loved one are struggling, please come! Every Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Hwy. 63 and Hwy. E, Houston.

KIDS AT THE CREEK

Boone Creek Baptist Church has resumed their Wednesday evening “Kids at the Creek” program.

KIDZ CLUB/ YOUTH GROUP

First Baptist Church Summer Kidz Club, ages 4 years through 6th grade, will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 223 Main Street, and will be served a meal. If your child needs a ride, contact the church at 573-674-3141.

LYNCH TOWNSHIP

Lynch Township’s meetings are the first Thursday of each month at 6 p.m., at the Lynch Township Shed, 14472 Boiling Springs Road.

DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP

The Phelps Health Diabetes Support Group meets the second Tuesday of each month, from 4 to 5 p.m., at the Delbert Day Cancer Institute. Call 573-458-3007 for information.

SHERRILL TOWNSHIP

Sherrill Township meets at 5:30 p.m. every other Thursday at the township shed located at 11875 South 137, in Licking. The next meeting is September 19.

BOONE TOWNSHIP MEETING

Boone Township meets the second Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. Meeting is at the Township Shed, 16245 Highway AF, Licking.

PARKINSON’S AND CAREGIVERS SUPPORT GROUP

The Phelps Health Parkinson’s and Caregivers Support Group meets the third Tuesday of each month, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., at the Delbert Day Cancer Institute. Call 573-458-3007 for information.

OZARK MOUNTAIN AMATEUR RADIO CLUB

The Ozark Mountain Amateur Radio Club meets the third Saturday of each month, at noon at the Lone Star Annex, 114 W. Main St. in downtown Houston. MOTORCYCLE CRUISE-IN

The final MC Cruise-In of the season will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Sonic in Licking, the last Thursday of September, with a rain date of the following Thursday. Join DJ Lew of the Road Show DJ service as he plays great tunes, win door prizes and enjoy the company of fellow bikers.

TEXAS COUNTY TRANSPORTATION

Licking Bridge Builders has transportation available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. To ride the bus, please make your appointment at least a day in advance by calling 573-674-3558 and talking with a volunteer.
