Season starts on the road for Lady Wildcats

Licking Lady ’Cats volleyball started their season on the road this year in Marshfield on Saturday, August 31, against Marshfield and Capital City.
It was a tough evening for the varsity squad, as Marshfield won in three sets, 25-16, 25-7, and 25-20. Capital City also came out on top, 26-24, 25-21, 25-18.
The JV Ladies lost to Capital City but defeated Marshfield in three sets.
Still on the road in Winona on Thursday, September 5, Licking’s Varsity lost to the home team 25-11, 25-17, 25-17. The Junior Varsity was more successful, leaving with a win, 25-22, 25-11.
On Saturday, September 7, Licking traveled to Owensville for three matches. Licking lost to North County 26-24, and 25-22. But the Lady ’Cats left with two wins under their belts, defeating Cuba 25-15, 25-17, and Owensville 25-19, 25-20.
The JV squad also came away from Owensville with two wins, defeating North County 26-24, 17-25, 25-20, and Cuba 25-15, 27-29, 25-16. Owensville overcame the young Lady Wildcats, and they fell 17-25, 18-25.
“We’ve had a rough start,” said Coach Tammy Gorman. “But we are slowly adjusting to a new line up and switching roles.”
Licking’s first home game is scheduled for Tuesday evening against Mountain Grove, followed by a Thursday night match against Houston at the Sherman Hill Field House.
