Coach Harv Antle, shown with wife Amy, retires after eight successful years as a Licking Wildcat.

Donna Shanks, shown with husband Terry, is retiring also. She played an important role in the success of the inaugural year of the L.E.A.D. School.

School security officer Jeff Kinder will be retiring after sharing his expertise with the school for the past two school years.

Brandi Huff and Dr. Jarad Rinne received five- and ten-year pins, respectively.

Licking R-8 teachers and staff gathered at the Elementary Cafeteria on Wednesday, May 15, for the recognition of retirees, the presentation of anniversary pins, and the announcement of the Teachers of the Year.

Teachers retiring included Baseball Head Coach and History Teacher Harv Antle, and L.E.A.D. School teacher Donna Shanks.

Coach Antle was a vital member of the Licking High School teaching and coaching staff for eight years. Though the school year has ended, his retirement does not occur until the end of baseball season.

Mrs. Shanks has only been a member of the Licking teaching staff for a year, but was an important part of the successful first year of the L.E.A.D. School at Licking.

Both Antle and Shanks had long, successful careers as teachers prior to coming to Licking. Supt. Telena Haneline thanked both and they each received a check to begin their Missouri Retired Teachers’ Association membership, a flag flown over the Capitol and a resolution from the Missouri House of Representatives, compliments of Rep. Bennie Cook, and a peace lily. Slides were shown throughout the event with the following words of gratitude: “In great appreciation for all your years teaching we all want to say THANK YOU for your knowledge and dedication. You will always be remembered for your hard work throughout the years.”

Also recognized was Jeff Kinder, who has served as school security for the past two school years. His service to the school was appreciated by all. The school will be partnering with the Licking Police Department for school security next year.

Elementary teacher Amanda Floyd received a 15-year pin, and receiving 10-year pins were Dr. Jarad Rinne, Briana Link, Tony Huff, Colin Ellis and Natasha Reed. Five-year pins were awarded to Danny Hurt, Daniel Cooper, Kaylon Buckner, Brandi Huff and Telena Haneline.

Kendra Goforth, the Professional Development Committee President, awarded Chrissy Medlock the Elementary Teacher of the Year plaque.

Briana Link was named the HS/JH Teacher of the Year, but was unable to attend the meeting.
