LHS Commencement held

The Licking High School Class of 2024 Commencement was held Sunday, with family and friends filling the Sherman Hill Field House to witness the event.

Student speakers were Ryleigh Barton, who spoke of “Academic Excellence;” McKinley Satterfield, whose speech was on “Character;” and Hannah Medlock, with “Memories” as her theme.

Honors, scholarships and awards were announced, and 53 seniors were presented their diplomas.

Seven students achieved Summa Cum Laude honors, earning a 4.0 or better GPA throughout their high school careers. They were Silas Antle, Ryleigh Barton, Hannah Medlock, Riley Moloney, McKinley Satterfield, Austin Stephens and Finley Sullins.

Five Magna Cum Laude honors were announced: Kellar Davis, Allie Decker, Dawson Havens, Trevor Richards and Kamila Yetkin.

Cum Laude honors went to eight seniors: Emalee Breeden, Keyton Cook, Chloe DeHaan, Ashton Glass, Garrett Gorman, Logan Gorman, Calyn Huff and Makenna Skidmore.

The Citizenship Awards were received by Dawson Havens, Austin Stephens and Finley Sullins.

Six students received the George Washington Carver Award for ranking in the top ten percent of the class, and 28 students received A+ Scholarship awards.

Many colleges have not yet released financial aid packages due to FAFSA delays this year, so more awards may be coming. Thirty-five local scholarships were awarded, showing an outpouring of community support for these graduates.
