LHS Athletic Banquet held

Mr. Rick Mosher, left, and Mr. Gary Cook, center, were recognized for their contributions to the student athletes of Licking schools by Athletic Director Phillip Gambill at this year’s Athletic Banquet.

The LHS Athletic Banquet was held Thursday, May 2, at the Sherman Hill Field House.

Athletic Director Phillip Gambill paid tribute to Mr. Rick Mosher and Mr. Gary Cook, recognizing them for their service and dedication to the student athletes of Licking schools.

Gambill recognized the students who worked hard in their sports and the classroom, with MSHSAA Scholastic Achievement Awards earned by several teams. Teams ranked as outstanding with an average GPA of 3.5-4.0, and distinguished with an average of 3.0-3.49.

Outstanding Achievement awards were earned by the following teams: Volleyball JV (3.85), Girls Basketball Varsity (3.77), Softball Varsity (3.68), Volleyball Varsity (3.67), Girls Basketball JV (3.54), Baseball (3.52), and Boys Basketball Varsity (3.50).

Distinguished Achievement awards were earned by: Softball JV (3.25), Golf (3.14), and Boys Basketball JV (3.09).

Girls Basketball Varsity team member Ryleigh Barton received the honor of MBCA Academic All State this year.

All coaches and their teams had their time on stage, with coaches recognizing players for serious, hard-earned awards, and sometimes funny ones as well. Coach Harv Antle used the opportunity to have a “Senior Night” for his senior players, as rain canceled his scheduled senior night.

Letters and pins were distributed to students at the end of the banquet.
