Billie Jean Blaylock Boley is shown with her award winning art, which depicts Porter Waggoner and Dolly Parton singing “Daddy was an old time preacher man…” while observing a brush arbor revival.
Licking artist Billie Jean Blaylock Boley won first place with her creative work of fiber art at the Rags to Art fiber art show that was held in West Plains during Dolly & Porter Days, October 2 and 3.
The art exhibition was inspired by Dolly Parton’s “Coat of Many Colors” and entries were required to be made of all used pieces, nothing new was allowed. Boley used quilt scraps, material from an old skirt, sequins from an old prom dress and other odds and ends of scraps. Not only did her work win first place overall, she was also the second place winner of the People’s Choice award.
“That was one of the most fun things I’ve ever done,” she said.
Congratulations, Billie Jean!
